Daphne Sweet (b.1996) is a Montana-based artist whose work explores feminine mythology and the archetypes of the American West. Working primarily in painting, drawing, and ceramics, she constructs flattened, ornamental compositions that merge devotional imagery with contemporary surface language.

Drawing is central to her practice. Sweet often begins with line as a guiding structure, following a visual thread across bodies of work and allowing figures and motifs to transform over time. Riders, women, horses, flora, and symbolic objects recur not as fixed narratives but as shifting forms — vehicles for examining identity, myth, and projection.

Informed by her background in studio art and art history, her work references Renaissance figuration, ILLUMINatED MANUSCRIPTS and decorative traditions while maintaining a distinctly graphic sensibility. Through compressed space and intricate mark-making, she builds images that feel at once intimate and mythic, personal and archetypal.

Born in Los Angeles and now based in Butte, Montana, Sweet has exhibited nationally, with presentations ranging from New York City galleries to mural projects in Miami.
